In Partnership with ByDealers Auction House, Masters Gallery is pleased to present
While we don’t know for certain who the sitter of this lovely sketch is, we do know that from 1879 onwards, Robert Harris was well on his way to becoming one of Canada’s leading portraitists. The artist had spent many years traveling and pursuing education in Europe and America, and by the end of the 1870s had finally established himself. Harris was solicited to paint the likenesses of everyone from school children to the highest ranks of Torontonian society, and in his off time, made sketches everywhere he went.
