Chris Cran is one of Alberta’s most recognized artists. Playing with our ideas of how things should look, and turning them into how he wants us to look at them, he combines humor, irony, and a keenly honed sense of perception of contemporary culture in his art. Light Beige Crowd plays with our ideas around perception, with a surface intentionally treated so that the images appear to dissolve, evoking ideas of the out-of-focus images of crime investigations that entered into the main stream in the 1950s.
