We are excited to announce a rare and important canvas by Frederick Grant Banting is now available for private sale. It depicts St-Jean Port Jolie where Banting and A.Y. Jackson took their first painting trip in 1927. It was here, that Banting was introduced to the techniques of plein-air landscape painting. This special canvas was included in the “Exhibition of Paintings by the Late Sir Frederick Banting”, Hart House, University of Toronto, in 1943 and retains the exhibition labels to reverse. The certification from Lady Henrietta Banting is also present on the stretcher.
