About the Artist

Andrew James McKay is a working artist and currently a painting and printmaking undergraduate student at Emily Carr University of Art+Design. He is the 2017 recipient of both the Gordon and Marion Smith scholarship and Takao Tanabe scholarship for painting; 2016 recipient of the Emily Carr University Achievement Scholarship and Marjorie and Howard Isman Award, both for outstanding academic performance; and the 2016 recipient of a grant from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation.

McKay most recently curated the exhibition Field of Vision at the Monte Vista Projects in Los Angeles, California. The show features interpretations of portrait photographs from Andrew McKay, Michael Alvarez, Emily Blythe Jones, Mureen Gubia, Tracy Kerdman, Juan Carlos Nora, a painter of unknown name working from Dafen Oil Painting Village and the 12th form students of Kitsilano High School. Proceeds from the sales of works will benefit the arts department of Kitsilano High School. The exhibition will run from October 13th to November 4th, 2018.
